If you've ever tried to think your way out of a limiting belief, you know how futile and frustrating it can be.
Inside you is limitless potential. The Divinity in disguise, remember? On the one hand, I know this can be very inspiring; this idea of an ocean of amazingness largely unexplored, just waiting.
I also know that this can be frustrating as we try to unlock it.
Similar patterns play out in our lives. We find ourselves back a square 1- or so it seems.
And the idea of unlocking that potential can start a wild goose chase. Searching for something- or anything- that will point the way.
All the while, your most precious and vast resources remain untapped.
And this is because you're looking for a key in some hidden place. Like you're in a panic room, trying to solve puzzles to get the next step and break free.
What you may not recognize is that you ARE the key.
You're also the lock.
And the beauty of this paradox is that you truly do have everything you need.
The locks are all the times and all the ways you've decided for the way things are. Consciously, subconsciously, and unconsciously. They're all decisions.
Whether it's fighting battles with yourself. Fighting battles with the world. Playing the role of the warrior fighting the good fight. The underdog or the outcast.
Always seeming to stop short just when your moment is about to come.
Finding something to worry about to throttle your joy just when things are getting really good.
Literally endless variations. Volume upon volume of stories; decisions.
But don't forget that you are also the key.
Because every step of the way it's been you who created the locks.
Now I don't mean that in a blaming, shaming sort of way. I'm telling you this to put the power back in your own hands. To pick up the reigns that have been sitting there all along.
You are the lock- or rather your beliefs and decisions are the lock- and you are also the key- Meaning that you decided, so you can un-decide and re-decide. As many times as you want. As many times as needed.
The secret of transforming yourself from lock to key is simple.
It's so simple you might not even believe me at first, but I'll tell you anyway because it's important.
It's curiosity.
Becoming insanely curious about yourself. About one another. About the world we live in.
When you see yourself falling into an old, tired habit, get curious about the other times in your life you've seen this. If you stay with the question, the pattern will reveal itself, and you'll know how to get some much needed leverage at key moments.
Because it's not just about making the right decisions, it's about making the right decisions at the right moments.
Curiosity invites new energy and new awareness.
It is a softness where hard, brittle ideas start to loosen their grip in your life.
Where you find more movement, more freedom, more flow.
And most importantly, curiosity helps you find what's right there inside you. What's been there all along.
